Job Description

Role PurposeLead all MEP engineering activities across project lifecycle—from design review, redesign, and technical evaluation to construction engineering support—for major building and infrastructure projects. Ensure that Mechanical and Electrical systems are engineered, coordinated, and executed in full compliance with project specifications, authority requirements, and contractor execution methodologies.Key Responsibilities1. Design Review & Technical GovernanceReview, validate, and comment on MEP design drawings, IFC drawings, specifications, and engineering reports.Identify design gaps, propose value engineering solutions, and lead redesigns where required.Ensure designs meet project specifications, authority regulations, international codes (ASHRAE, NFPA, NEC, SMACNA, IPC, etc.).Coordinate with consultants to close all design comments, RFIs, and ensure timely approval cycles.2. Engineering Calculations & Technical ValidationPerform and verify Mechanical & Electrical engineering calculations, including:HVAC load calculationsESP, pump sizing, chilled water network calculationsFirefighting hydraulic calculationsElectrical load schedules & SLD reviewCable sizing & voltage dropShort circuit calculations and protection coordinationValidate shop drawings, material selections, and system capacities for compliance and constructability.3. MEP Coordination & Constructability ReviewCoordinate multi‑discipline interfaces between mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire, ELV, civil and architectural trades.Ensure all MEP systems are coordinated in BIM / CAD and aligned with structural openings, façade, fit‑out and utility routes.Resolve site technical challenges, propose alternative solutions, and support construction teams with technical clarifications.4. Engineering Deliverables ManagementManage preparation and approval of:Shop drawingsMethod statementsMaterial Submittals (MIRs)Technical datasheetsAs‑built drawingsEnsure all deliverables follow contract requirements, QA/QC procedures, and authority standards.5. Procurement & Vendor EngineeringReview and approve vendor technical submissions, equipment datasheets, and compliance matrices.Evaluate long‑lead items and ensure engineering readiness for procurement.Coordinate with suppliers for engineering integration of mechanical and electrical systems.6. Construction Support & Site Technical OversightProvide direct engineering support to site teams for installation, testing & commissioning.Lead resolution of NCRs, site observations, design conflicts, and change requests.Support planning and sequencing of MEP works to achieve construction milestones.7. Authority Approvals & ComplianceEnsure full compliance with local authority standards and manage technical submissions to entities such as:MunicipalityCivil DefenceElectricity & Water AuthoritiesTelecom and Utility ProvidersManage final system approvals, inspections, and handover documentation.8. Leadership & Team ManagementLead a team of discipline engineers (Mechanical, Electrical, ELV, Fire, Plumbing).Establish engineering workflows, procedures, and quality standards.Provide mentoring, technical guidance, and ensure strong communication across disciplines.QualificationsBachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (strongly preferred).12–18+ years of MEP engineering experience, minimum 7 years with a Contractor.Proven experience in design review, redesign, technical evaluation, and engineering calculations.Strong background in high‑rise buildings, towers, mixed‑use, or large commercial/industrial projects.Hands‑on experience coordinating both Mechanical and Electrical systems.Strong skills in MEP codes, engineering software, and BIM/CAD (as applicable).Excellent communication, leadership, and problem‑solving abilities.#J-18808-Ljbffr
