Job Description

About POWERTECHPowertech is a center of excellence for propulsion technologies, specializing in the design and manufacturing of turbojet, turbofan, and advanced propulsion systems for aerospace, defense, and autonomous platforms.Advanced Propulsion Team OverviewThe Advanced Propulsion team explores next-generation and low‑TRL propulsion architectures, developing the enabling actuation, sensing, and control systems required for future multimodal and adaptive propulsion systems.Job SummaryThe Mechatronics Engineer – Advanced Engines Architectures will support the development of experimental propulsion architectures by designing the actuation and control infrastructure that enables adaptive and multimodal engine operation. Working within the Advanced Engine Architecture team, the engineer will develop electromechanical actuation systems, sensor networks, and embedded control interfaces that connect propulsion hardware with agile control strategies. This role sits at the intersection of mechanical systems, electromechanical actuation, and control engineering, contributing to the rapid prototyping and validation of low‑TRL propulsion technologies.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop electromechanical actuation systems for propulsion subsystems (variable geometry, valves, flow control mechanisms).Evaluate and integrate motors, sensors, gear systems, and embedded electronics for high‑performance, high temperature and aggressive environments.Develop the infrastructure linking actuators, sensors, and control systems within advanced engine architectures.Support the integration of distributed sensing and real‑time control interfaces.Contribute to the development of feedback control strategies for propulsion actuation systems.Develop multi‑domain models of mechanical, electrical, and control dynamics.Build and test experimental systems and prototypes for advanced propulsion concepts.Design instrumentation and data acquisition for subsystem validation.Work closely with propulsion, controls, and electronics engineers on architecture development and experimental validation.QualificationsBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, or related field.3–7 years of experience developing electromechanical or robotic systems.Experience integrating actuators, sensors, and embedded control hardware.Desirable SkillsExperience with propulsion systems, or aerospace hardwareExperience in rapid prototyping or experimental R&D environmentsAbility to demonstrate innovative mindset and out of the box thinking would be considered a plus.#J-18808-Ljbffr
