OverviewJob Title: Mechanical Supervisor – GE Gas Turbines (Shutdowns & Major Inspections)Location: Qatar (Onsite)Experience: 10 years in LNG or power plant turbine maintenanceDuration: LongtermJob SummaryHighly experienced Mechanical Supervisor responsible for leading and coordinating all mechanical maintenance, overhaul, and inspection activities on GE/BH heavy-duty gas turbines (Frames 6, 7 & 9) during Major Inspection (MI), Hot Gas Path (HGP), and Combustion Inspection (CI) campaigns. Ensures strict compliance with OEM specifications, QA/QC standards, and Qatar Energy LNG safety systems, while driving schedule adherence and technical excellence on-site.Key ResponsibilitiesSupervise and coordinate all mechanical work on gas turbines and auxiliary systems.Lead teams of mechanical technicians, riggers, and helpers during MI/HGP/CI scopes.Interpret and implement GE/BH OEM job cards, procedures, and inspection sheets.Ensure all work is performed per QatarEnergy LNG PTW and LOTO standards.Manage disassembly and reassembly of rotors, casings, diaphragms, and bearings.Verify critical dimensions and clearances as per OEM tolerances.Supervise alignment, torqueing, and coupling of turbine and driven equipment.Oversee borescope inspection preparation, execution, and reporting.Plan and allocate manpower, tools, and consumables for each shutdown phase.Coordinate with planning engineers for daily and weekly progress tracking.Conduct toolbox meetings and pre-task safety briefings.Liaise with OEM field engineers to verify findings and corrective actions.Validate work-pack completion and ensure QA/QC documentation accuracy.Control and monitor torque logs, checklists, and NCRs.Ensure proper tagging and traceability of dismantled components.Supervise mechanical inspection of auxiliary systems – fuel gas, lube oil, hydraulics.Approve reinstallation of cleaned, inspected, or replaced parts.Lead casing closure and final assembly operations.Ensure calibrated tools are used for all precision activities.Verify flange bolting, gasket installation, and torque tensioning per OEM values.Review and sign off daily activity reports and logbooks.Coordinate mechanical work with I&C, Electrical, and Rigging supervisors.Supervise hydrostatic, pneumatic, and leak tests.Manage rigging operations during rotor removal and lifting.Enforce compliance with lifting plans and approved risk assessments.Evaluate and brief workforce on task-specific hazards.Approve permits and isolations before mechanical interventions.Support QA/QC during inspection hold points.Ensure proper storage and preservation of mechanical parts.Supervise alignment of turbine and generator coupling.Verify hot and cold alignment readings post-installation.Review and clear all punch list items before commissioning.Maintain close communication with QatarEnergy LNG representatives.Attend coordination meetings with client and OEM teams.Ensure work fronts are handed over clean and safe for other disciplines.Verify tool control and return procedures daily.Implement time control for shutdown milestones.Ensure workforce discipline, PPE compliance, and site conduct.Provide daily progress and issue reports to site manager.Drive continuous improvement and lesson-learned sessions.Monitor and support local manpower performance and mentoring.Ensure all consumables are traceable and within shelf life.Evaluate and authorize minor field repairs per QA/QC.Coordinate with logistics for spare and tool delivery.Support commissioning engineers during turbine restart.Ensure readiness for performance and leak tests.Supervise post-startup checks for leaks, vibrations, and performance.Verify that all tools and lifting tackles are certified.Oversee turbine enclosure reassembly and finishing works.Maintain strict adherence to shutdown scope, schedule, and safety KPIs.Skills & Technical CompetenceMinimum 15 years of mechanical maintenance experience in oil & gas.At least 8 years supervising GE/BH Frame 6/7/9 gas turbine overhauls.In-depth understanding of GE OEM inspection tolerances and procedures.Strong leadership and team coordination during tight shutdowns.Proficient in alignment, bearing, and casing assembly processes.Skilled in hydraulic torquing and tensioning systems.Knowledge of seal installation, rotor balancing, and diaphragm assembly.Capable of interpreting P&IDs, OEM manuals, and GA drawings.Competence in QA/QC documentation, ITPs, and inspection reports.Familiar with QatarEnergy LNG mechanical specifications and reporting formats.Strong knowledge of rigging and lifting practices (ASME B30.9, LOLER).Understanding of vibration, thermal growth, and alignment behavior.Proficient with micrometers, feeler gauges, and dial indicators.Capable of preparing daily and weekly activity progress reports.Familiar with CMMS and maintenance reporting tools.Excellent communication and coordination with multidisciplinary teams.Strong decision-making ability under high-pressure environments.Fluent in English (sp
