DescriptionStantec is looking to hire a Mechanical Inspector for a large Sewage Treatment Plant in Dubai. This role is part of a project where the Dubai authority requires the rehabilitation of an existing STP to operate at its highest efficiency and to be extended to receive and treat up to approximately 435,000 m³/day. The selected candidate will have extensive experience working in local sewage treatment plant facilities and a proven ability to manage and supervise construction works and optimize the operation process within the existing STP in accordance with the specifications.Key activities include:Rehabilitation and repairing of civil works.Extension of the plant to around 175,000 m³/day.Rehabilitation of existing 260,000 m³/day STP.Our people are at the heart of everything we do; they give our work purpose. If you want to be part of our unwavering team and can bring your sense of imagination and determination to every challenge, this is the right place for you.Key AccountabilitiesTechnical delivery: interact with clients and contractor staff to determine and verify project requirements.Prepare inspection reports and site records.Perform civil and structural tests.Provide general inspection of all construction labor and subcontracted tasks to ensure professional workmanship.Identify non‑conforming works, generate reports and corrective actions and coordinate responses.Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as appropriate.Collaborate and work as part of a team.Work in conjunction with engineers to solve project design problems, performing basic design calculations as required.Conduct technical feasibility studies and site investigations.Liaise with teams working remotely from other parts of the world to facilitate completion of tasks and projects.Be a good communicator.Client service management and internal/external client liaison.Build and maintain lasting and positive relationships.Experience in utility diversions and management.Follow safe work practices and adhere to company guidelines and policies for planning and executing work in a safe manner.Complete all work in line with Stantec Core Values and in accordance with the Stantec Quality Systems and Project Quality Procedures.Design for safety, i.e., Construction Design Management.Other duties as requested from time to time by the Assistant Resident Engineer.QualificationsDiploma / Degree in Engineering.Extensive knowledge in installation, testing and commissioning of MEP facilities for large water/wastewater pumping stations including pumps, motors, VFDs, HVAC, power and control systems and all building MEP services.10+ years relevant experience in installation of mechanical equipment for pumping stations.Good oral and written communication skills.Ability to communicate logically and clearly with management and staff.Ability to handle the physical aspects of required field work.Commitment to safe work practices.About StantecWe’re active members of the communities we serve.
