Job Description

Demonstrates leadership and commitment to Health Safety Environment and Quality (HSEQ). Actively encourages and leads the HZI and contractor teams to implement and comply with project HSEQ requirementsEnsures that all relevant HSEQ requirements are incorporated into area of responsibility and that in consultation with site management and HSE team HSE hazards are eliminated or mitigated to the extent practicableIs responsible for the safety and HSE performance of all personnel under their control and for stopping work where this might be compromisedEnsures that works within area of responsibility are executed in accordance with the contract and conform with project time and budget requirementsCoordinates all lifts and lifting equipment on the site (where HZI is the principal contractor)Chairs coordination meetings between the various contractors on site to ensure the minimum hindrance to the construction workPrepares HZI lifting method statementsEnsures that risk assessments and method statements (RAMS) are reviewed with regards to HSE requirements and that work is carried out in accordance with the RAMSConducts regular audits of contractor lifting equipmentEnsures all lifting operations are planned organised and undertaken by competent persons. The plan will address the risks identified by the RAMS the resources required procedures and the responsibilities so that any lifting operation is carried out safelyEnsures lifting equipment is suitable for the proposed use and is used safelySelects and provides a suitable crane and work equipment including safe slinging and signalling arrangementsMaintains and examines the crane and equipmentEnsures that all concerned personnel are trained and competent in Lifting proceduresSupervises operations by personnel having the necessary authorityPlans and provides thorough examinations reports and other documentsPrevents unauthorised movement or use of the crane; and measures to secure safety of persons not involved in the liftingChecks that lifting equipment and accessories (slings clamps strops chains hooks etc. are marked with any appropriate information which must be taken account for its safe use e. g. safe working loadsEnsures that lifting equipment and lifting accessories are subject to a periodic thorough examination as requiredDelivers Lessons Learned and feedback for current and future projectsKeeps the Site Manager informed of all siterelated activitiesQualificationsGraduate in Mechanical Engineering with 10 years of experience in Lifting Operations at an Industrial construction sites or any type of Process Plants.Expertise in Heavy Industrial Cranes (Crawler Crane Tower Cranes Mobile Cranes)Knowledge of British Standard BS 7121 Part 1 2006Appointed Persons Lifting Operations QualificationKnowledge of relevant HSEQ legal and management system requirementsSite Supervisor Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS) or equivalentValid Safety Contractors Certificate (SCC) Safepass (ROI) CSCS or CCNSG card or equivalentAdditional InformationSolution orientatedGood forward plannerGood communicatorExcellent motivational and leadership skillsAbility to present ideas effectivelyAble to evaluate ideas of othersNegotiation skillsGood command of English other languages an advantageFor HR agencies: Please note that we do not accept applications coming from agencies.
