<div><p>The role is for an experienced academic with a strong track record of excellence in teaching and research. This may also include contributions to academic leadership and management. This is typically combined with a proven record of impactful research.</p><h3>Job Purpose</h3><p>To lead and contribute to research, learning and teaching, and knowledge transfer, benefiting students, the School, the University, and the wider community.</p><p>Ability to deliver highly engaging and evidence-based teaching in sports&exercise science, to undergraduate and postgraduate students, incorporating real-world applications and industry best practices. A background in sport and exercise physiology will be preferentially considered. Develop high-quality teaching materials and implement innovative, practice-based learning approaches that integrate the latest advancements in sports performance, and applied physiology.</p><h3>Main Responsibilities</h3><h3>Learning and Teaching</h3><ul><li>Deliver high-quality teaching to undergraduate and postgraduate students</li><li>Design, develop, and evaluate courses and programmes in collaboration with colleagues</li><li>Identify and integrate best and innovative practices in learning and teaching into personal teaching methods</li><li>Ensure that personal research and subject knowledge inform teaching practices</li><li>Actively contribute to initiatives that identify, implement, and promote best practices in teaching and learning across the faculty and institution</li><li>Integrate research insights and industry developments into the curriculum</li><li>Take lead responsibility for a programme area, subject, or course, as required</li><li>Enhance student experience and outcomes</li></ul><h3>Research and Knowledge Transfer</h3><ul><li>Develop and secure competitive funding for research and knowledge transfer projects, individually or as part of a team</li><li>Lead or contribute to major research and knowledge transfer projects</li><li>Maintain a strong research profile with outputs of high international standing</li><li>Demonstrate a commitment to creating societal impact through research and knowledge transfer</li><li>Supervise master’s and doctoral students in research and dissertation projects</li></ul><h3>Academic Leadership, Management, and Enterprise</h3><ul><li>Lead learning and teaching activities in a designated area, such as programme leadership</li><li>Contribute to the development of Physiology Services within the London Sport Institute</li><li>Manage research and knowledge transfer activities, including self-contained projects or contributions to broader programmes</li><li>Contribute to cross-faculty activities, including student recruitment, induction, assessment, and national and international partnerships</li><li>Provide guidance, mentorship, and coaching to colleagues</li><li>Manage allocated people and resources effectively</li><li>Undertake additional leadership and management activities, as required</li></ul><h3>Essential Requirements</h3><p>Postgraduate qualification (normally a doctorate or equivalent) in Sports and Exercise Science or a related discipline</p><p>Relevant vocational accreditation (e.g., BASES or ESSA for Sport and Exercise Science)</p><p>Demonstrable experience working with high-performance athlete populations, with evidence of success in enhancing performance and outcomes</p><p>Strong industry alignment, with experience embedding real-world learning experiences, live projects, and industry collaborations into teaching</p><p>Proven ability to deliver high-quality, evidence-based teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, with supporting evidence</p><p>Ability to integrate innovative teaching and learning practices, including applied, practice-based learning approaches such as simulations, fieldwork, and case studies</p><p>Track record of research or knowledge exchange outputs, normally of high international standing, commensurate with career stage</p><p>Proven record of success in undertaking, supervising, and managing research activity, including master’s and doctoral supervision</p><p>Ability to engage and motivate students and colleagues, fostering an inclusive and high-performance learning environment</p><h3>Desirable Requirements</h3><ul><li>Industry experience in sports science, or applied exercise science within elite sport or clinical settings</li><li>Evidence of securing research and knowledge transfer funding</li><li>Experience collaborating on interdisciplinary projects or initiatives with other departments, faculties, or external industry partners</li><li>Familiarity with emerging trends and technologies in sports performance, biomechanics, or applied physiology</li><li>Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education or an equivalent teaching qualification</li></ul></div>#J-18808-Ljbffr
