Lead Architect

The Lead Architect is responsible for management of architecture design team and the projects being undertaken, from a technical and creative design perspective, in accordance with all applicable design codes, standards and Authority requirements. Hands-on ability using design tools such as AutoCAD, BIM / Revit, and 3D rendering software is essential.Important competencies for the role include:Ability to lead all architecture technical and creative design activities,Provide leadership and advice on how to solve technical and design challenges within projects,Refine and improve the technical, quality, and compliance systems for the architecture team,building, managing, and maintaining professional relationships with internal stakeholders, clients, other consultants, and contractors, and,Support the Design Director as required.QualificationsA Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, is essential,Substantial experience successfully managing complex design projects with other design consultants is essential,Specific design training & qualifications,Membership of a Chartered Institution preferred.Job DutiesManage production of timely, high-quality architecture design deliverables for the design team for all design projects,Manage and perform coordination of the architecture design activities with all other disciplines,Perform technical, and creative design for architecture design projects,Establish and build professional relationships with clients, other consultants, and contractors,Manage technical and creative compliance with the brief for all project architecture related design resources, including sub-consultants,Understands, develops, and communicates to the design team, in conjunction with the Project Managers, the client project brief, scope of services, packaging of delivery, and time schedule for all projects,Effectively manages client expectations,Assist with the preparation and implementation of the project execution plans, design management plans, and project quality plans in coordination with the project managers,Manages the coordination, interface, and interactions with internal disciplines and teams within the Company and with 3rd parties in relation to technical, quality, and creative design of all projects,Responsible for managing the quality performance of the architecture team,Responsible for allocating design team resources to projects, in conjunction with the Project Managers,Manage and mentor junior architecture team staff, including training, and personal development, and,Undertake a range of business development activities including assisting with the preparation of proposals where required/attending interviews and presentations/networking events etc.Specifically, the Lead Architect is responsible for.Act as the Company representative for all architecture design matters with the internal teams and Clients during bidding, project start-up, and execution,Understand and develop Client project briefs,Manage and conduct design stage reviews for all projects, and quality reviews for all design deliverables,Takes an active, personal role in the establishment, implementation, and management of project quality, and compliance systems and procedures,Assists the Design Director on matters that cross between interfacing elements, projects or business lines,Assist with the recruitment of design team resources,Manage design team to comply with project time schedule requirements,Manage and produce all design deliverables to adhere to applicable compliance and quality requirements,Assist with procurement of sub-consultants for the delivery of project design services,Monitor, manage, and report to management on the productivity and efficiency of the design team,Works proactively, constructively, and fairly with all parties for successful execution of projects, and,Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as directed.Specific Skills RequiredExcellent working knowledge of local and internationally accepted design codes and standards, industry principles and practices, and quality management systems,Good basic understanding of contract law - seeks advice as appropriate,Excellent experience of design processes and systems,Excellent knowledge of current design/construction technology,High level of critical thinking, problem-solving, numeracy, and English literacy skills,Excellent verbal, and written communication skills,Use of diplomacy and tact in discussions with other parties essential,Contributes to team building and enhancing morale across the team/project,Promotes equality and recognizes diversity in managing people.
