Job Description
An IT Assistant provides essential technical support, maintaining hardware, software, and network systems while acting as the first point of contact for employee IT issues. They install, configure, and troubleshoot equipment, manage user accounts, and ensure efficient daily operations, usually requiring knowledge of operating systems, hardware maintenance, and basic network troubleshooting.Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical Support: Acting as the first line of support, resolving hardware/software issues via phone, remote connection, or in-person.System Maintenance: Installing, configuring, and upgrading workstations, peripheral equipment, and software applications.Network Maintenance: Assisting in maintaining internet connectivity, VPN access, and office networking infrastructure.User Management: Setting up new user accounts, troubleshooting login/email issues, and managing software licenses.Inventory Management: Tracking computer assets, managing IT equipment inventory, and managing repairs.Documentation: Maintaining records of support requests, technical issues, and maintenance procedures.Required Skills and QualificationsTechnical Knowledge: Strong understanding of Windows/Apple OS, basic network protocols (TCP/IP), and office applications (e.g., Office 365, Google Workspace).Troubleshooting Ability: Strong diagnostic skills for identifying and solving hardware/software faults.Communication Skills: Ability to explain technical terms in plain language to non-technical users.Education & Experience: Typically, a diploma in Computer Science or IT certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+) is required, along with 1+ years of experience.Common QualificationsRelevant technical diploma or degree.Previous experience in help desk or IT support roles.Valid driver’s license (if onsite support requires travel).Key CompetenciesProblem-Solving: Proactively tackling technical challenges.Interpersonal Skills: Building rapport with staff for better user support.Patience: Assisting users through stressful technical issues.#J-18808-Ljbffr
