Job Description

ALTERRA is seeking a highly motivated Senior Associate to join its Investment Team, with a primary focus on credit-oriented investments across real asset strategies. The role is designed for an experienced investment professional with strong analytical capabilities, transaction execution experience, and the ability to independently evaluate and underwrite complex investment opportunities.The Senior Associate will play a critical role across the full investment lifecycle, including origination support, due diligence, financial modelling, investment committee materials, execution, and ongoing portfolio management. The role offers significant exposure to senior decision-makers and the opportunity to work across a diverse set of real asset sectors and capital structures.Key ResponsibilitiesInvestment Analysis & ExecutionLead and support the evaluation of credit and structured investment opportunities across real assets, including (but not limited to) infrastructure, energy, transportation, utilities, real estate, and natural resources.Develop and review detailed financial models, including cash flow projections, downside and sensitivity analyses, stress testing, and scenario modelling.Assess credit risk, covenant structures, security packages, and intercreditor arrangements across different capital structures (senior, mezzanine, structured credit, hybrid instruments).Prepare high‑quality investment memoranda and materials for internal review and Investment Committee approvals.Coordinate external advisors (legal, technical, insurance, ESG, tax) during due diligence and execution phases.Monitor portfolio investments on an ongoing basis, including performance tracking, covenant compliance, valuation updates, and risk assessments.Review financial statements, operating reports, and lender information packages.Support restructuring, amendment, waiver, or refinancing processes where required.Assist in portfolio‑level analysis, reporting, and strategic reviews.Market & Sector ResearchConduct in‑depth sector and thematic research across real assets and private credit markets.Track macroeconomic trends, interest rate environments, regulatory developments, and their implications for credit and asset performance.Contribute to investment strategy development and thought leadership within the team.Stakeholder EngagementEngage with sponsors, borrowers, management teams, lenders, and co‑investors.Support relationship management with financial institutions, asset managers, and origination partners.Represent ALTERRA professionally in meetings, calls, and external engagements.Required Qualifications & ExperienceProfessional Experience5–8 years of relevant experience in investment banking, private credit, infrastructure debt, real assets investing, or a related institutional investment role.Demonstrated experience in credit underwriting, ideally with exposure to real asset‑backed investments.Hands‑on involvement in executed transactions across debt or structured products; experience across the full deal lifecycle is strongly preferred.Technical SkillsAdvanced financial modelling and valuation skills, particularly cash‑flow‑based and credit‑focused models.Strong understanding of credit documentation, debt structures, and risk mitigation mechanisms.High proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; experience with investment committee processes.Educational BackgroundBachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related field from a leading university.CFA, CAIA, or equivalent professional qualification is highly desirable.#J-18808-Ljbffr
