Job Description
The Interior Designer-BIM is a key role that bridges creative design intent and technical execution reporting to Interior Design Manager. This professional is responsible for developing, managing, and coordinating the Building Information Modeling (BIM) processes and documentation for high-end hospitality projects (e.g., hotels, resorts, restaurants) and unique special projects. The ideal candidate ensures design integrity is maintained through precise and clash‑free technical documentationJob ResponsibilitiesBIM Model Development & ManagementDevelop and maintain detailed interior design BIM models (primarily in Revit) from concept through construction documentation.Manage model health, including troubleshooting issues, optimizing performance, and enforcing project standards.Create and manage families, parameters and templates specific to interior design and hospitality FF&E (Furniture Fixtures and Equipment).Technical Documentation & CoordinationGenerate comprehensive construction drawing sets, including plans, elevations, sections, details and schedules directly from the BIM model.Coordinate closely with architects, MEP engineers, structural engineers and other consultants to integrate systems and resolve clashes using coordination tools like Navisworks.Lead internal model coordination meetings to ensure all interior design elements are accurately represented and conflict‑free.Content Creation & StandardizationDevelop and maintain a library of standardized high‑quality BIM objects and details for custom millwork, furniture and interior fixtures.Ensure all model content adheres to company and project‑specific BIM standards and protocols.Project Support & CollaborationWork directly with interior designers to translate conceptual sketches and design intent into technically accurate and constructible models.Support the project team in visualizing designs through 3D views, renderings and virtual reality walkthroughs extracted from the model.Assist in the creation of data‑rich models for use in specifications, cost estimation and facility management.Quality ControlConduct regular quality checks on models and drawings to ensure accuracy, completeness and adherence to all relevant codes and standards.Implement and enforce BIM execution plans (BEP) for each project.Educational QualificationBachelor’s Degree in Interior Design/Relevant FieldExperienceMinimum 3–5 YearsRole Specific Qualifications & TrainingVisualization & Rendering: Experience with rendering engines integrated with Revit such as Enscape or Twinmotion for rapid real‑time visualization and client presentations.Design Software: Working knowledge of SketchUp (for conceptual massing) and Adobe Creative Suite (particularly Photoshop for post‑processing renderings and InDesign for creating presentation boards and reports).CDE Platforms: Experience working within Common Data Environments (CDE) like Autodesk Construction Cloud (BIM 360/ACC) or Procore for project management and collaboration.Beneficial (A Plus)Specialized Tools: Knowledge of Dynamo for Revit for automation and complex modeling tasks.Facility Management: Familiarity with company data standards and their implementation for handover.Specification Software: Experience with Spec. or similar specification writing software.Behavioural CompetenciesTechnical Mindset & Problem‑SolvingMeticulous Attention to Detail: Uncompromising accuracy in modeling, detailing and data management to prevent costly errors during construction.Systematic & Process‑Oriented: Thrives on creating order from complexity, developing efficient workflows and adhering to established BIM protocols.Analytical Problem‑Solver: Ability to identify clashes and technical conflicts early and propose practical constructible solutions.Collaboration & CommunicationEffective Collaborator: Works seamlessly as the technical bridge between interior designers, architects, external consultants and contractors.
