<div><h3>Job Purpose</h3><p>The GCS Head of Foundation Stage leads the strategic development, delivery, and continuous improvement of Early Years provision (FS1 and FS2) within a British curriculum framework. The role ensures high‑quality teaching, learning, and assessment in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum (EYFS) and UAE regulatory expectations, fostering a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment where all children thrive.</p><h3>Key Responsibilities</h3><h3>Leadership and Management</h3><ul><li>Lead and manage the Foundation Stage team, promoting a culture of high expectations, collaboration, and continuous improvement.</li><li>Develop and implement the EYFS curriculum and strategic plan aligned with whole‑school priorities.</li><li>Line manage FS teachers and support staff, including performance management, coaching, and professional development.</li><li>Contribute to whole‑school leadership as a member of the GCS Primary Leadership Team.</li><li>Ensure compliance with UAE regulatory requirements (SPEA/MOE) and safeguarding standards.</li></ul><h3>Teaching and Learning</h3><ul><li>Ensure high‑quality, play‑based and inquiry‑led teaching across FS1 and FS2 in line with EYFS principles.</li><li>Monitor planning, teaching, and assessment to ensure consistency, progression, and challenge for all learners.</li><li>Champion best practice in early years pedagogy, including continuous provision, child‑initiated learning, and effective adult interactions.</li><li>Support staff in meeting the needs of all learners, including EAL, G and T and students of determination.</li></ul><h3>Curriculum and Assessment</h3><ul><li>Oversee the planning, implementation, and review of a broad, balanced, and engaging EYFS curriculum.</li><li>Ensure robust baseline, formative, and summative assessment systems, including accurate tracking and moderation.</li><li>Analyse data to inform teaching, intervention, and strategic planning.</li><li>Ensure smooth transition processes into and out of the Foundation Stage.</li></ul><h3>Safeguarding and Wellbeing</h3><ul><li>Promote and maintain the highest standards of safeguarding and child protection.</li><li>Ensure a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment that supports children’s wellbeing and development.</li><li>Work closely with the GCS Designated Safeguarding Lead and inclusion team to support vulnerable students.</li></ul><h3>Parental Engagement</h3><ul><li>Develop strong partnerships with GCS families, ensuring clear communication about children’s progress and wellbeing.</li><li>Lead parent workshops, meetings, and transition events.</li><li>Address parental queries and concerns in a professional and timely manner.</li></ul><h3>Operational Management</h3><ul><li>Oversee day‑to‑day organisation of the Foundation Stage, including timetabling, staffing, and resource allocation.</li><li>Ensure learning environments (indoor and outdoor) are stimulating, well‑resourced, and aligned with EYFS best practice.</li><li>Manage budgets and resources effectively.</li></ul><h3>Person Specification</h3><h3>Qualifications and Experience</h3><ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field; EYFS specialism preferred.</li><li>Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.</li><li>Minimum 5 years’ teaching experience, including Early Years.</li><li>Proven leadership experience within EYFS or Primary settings.</li><li>Experience in a British curriculum international school (desirable).</li></ul><h3>Personal Attributes</h3><ul><li>Passion for early years education.</li><li>Resilient, adaptable, and solution‑focused.</li><li>Collaborative and culturally aware.</li><li>High level of professionalism and integrity.</li></ul><p>This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead and shape outstanding Early Years provision within a dynamic international school environment in a leading world class educational provider GEMS.</p><h3>Skills and Competencies</h3><ul><li>Strong knowledge of EYFS framework and early childhood development.</li><li>Ability to lead, motivate, and develop a high‑performing team.</li><li>Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.</li><li>Data‑informed approach to school improvement.</li><li>Commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing.</li></ul></div>#J-18808-Ljbffr
