Position SummaryThe Chief Accountant position is responsible for overseeing the organization’s accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with laws and regulations, and effective internal controls. This role leads the future accounting team that is going to be established in due course, manages financial records, and supports management with reliable financial information for decision-making.Key ResponsibilitiesOversee and execute daily accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payrollPrepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statementsEnsure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and statutory requirementsEnsure compliance with regulatory bodies and other stakeholders such as banks, suppliers.Manage budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processesSupervise and mentor accounting staff, ensuring high performance and accuracyCoordinate audits and liaise with external auditors and tax authoritiesMonitor cash flow, expenses, and financial risksEstablish and maintain effective internal controls and accounting policiesSupport management with financial analysis and reportsEnsure timely filing of tax returns and statutory reportsQualifications & SkillsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related fieldProfessional certification (CPA, ACCA, CA, or equivalent) preferredProven experience as a senior accountant or accounting managerStrong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reportingProficiency in accounting softwares and MS ExcelExcellent analytical, leadership, and organizational skillsHigh attention to detail and integrity7-10 years of accounting experience, including supervisory responsibilitiesKey CompetenciesExceptional leadership and stakeholder management skills.Deep understanding of project delivery methodologies, accounting and finance.Excellent negotiation and conflict resolution capabilities.Strong commercial and financial acumen.Ability to lead high-pressure, fast-paced delivery environments with precision and accountability.Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)Financial Accuracy & ComplianceFinancial Statement AccuracyAudit FindingsRegulatory & Tax ComplianceFull compliance with applicable accounting standardsClosing & Reporting EfficiencyManagement Reporting Timeliness Forecast & Budget VarianceExpense ControlInternal Controls & Risk ManagementFraud & Risk Incidents
