The position is full‑time, office based in Abu Dhabi.What We Can OfferMeaningful and interesting projects delivered to high‑profile clients across the Energy SectorCommitment to Diversity and Inclusion: an organization actively committed to diversity and inclusion across our businessCompetitive remuneration package: with regular reviews to ensure we are rewarding at the right level in line with the marketMedical insurance providing inpatient and outpatient coverageGroup life and personal accident insurance: Life Assurance coverEnd‑of‑Service gratuity in line with UAE Labour LawThe Employee Share Plan gives you the opportunity to purchase Wood shares and receive a company matchLong Service Award recognising commitment and loyalty of our people at 5‑year milestonesCommitment to continued professional development with tailored development plansGlobal connections: join experts worldwide shaping industry standardsEnergy Transition Academy: community of experts sharing knowledge on existing and emerging energy systems – delivered by field expertsResponsibilitiesAt Wood, we foster equal opportunity and welcome talented individuals to apply, even if not all criteria are met.ObjectivesDevelop a solid understanding of I&C engineering fundamentals by supporting design activities such as instrument selection, sizing, datasheets, and control philosophy preparation.Enhance proficiency in industry‑standard tools such as SPI (INtools), AutoCAD, PLC/DCS configuration basics, and loop diagram development.Assist in creating and reviewing I&C documentation including hook‑up drawings, cable schedules, instrument indexes, cause & effect diagrams, and I/O lists.Support interdisciplinary coordination with Process, Mechanical, Electrical, and Piping teams to ensure I&C requirements are fully integrated into project deliverables.Participate in field activities such as site surveys, instrument inspections, loop checks, and commissioning support to gain practical experience.Learn and apply relevant standards and codes such as ISA, IEC, NEC, and API to ensure compliance and technical accuracy in design tasks.Contribute to control system studies by supporting alarm rationalisation, SIL assessments, and basic control logic development under mentor guidance.Invest in continuous development by completing I&C training modules and actively seeking feedback to improve.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Instrumentation & Control Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline from an accredited university.Basic understanding of instrumentation principles, sensors, control systems, PLCs, DCS, and automation concepts.Familiarity with key industry standards such as ISA, IEC, NEC, and API (basic level acceptable at graduate stage).Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, including P&IDs, loop diagrams, wiring diagrams, and control narratives.Exposure to engineering software such as SPI/INtools, AutoCAD, and basic PLC/DCS simulation tools (advantageous).Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with good attention to detail.Good communication and teamwork abilities to work effectively with multidisciplinary engineering teams.Willingness to learn, adapt, and participate in on‑the‑job training, site visits, and technical development programs.About UsWood is a global leader in consulting and engineering, helping to unlock solutions to critical challenges in energy and materials markets.
