Job Description

The opportunityGovernment Relations work is a specialized area of Corporate Affairs focused on influencing government policy and legislative direction to improve the regulatory and economic environment in which the organization operates including building and maintaining relationships with governments, trade associations, industry coalitions, public services, and other authorities to influence policies and positions. Monitoring, analyzing, and reporting on government policy and legislation (e.g., identifying emerging policy/regulatory trends, developing issues and position papers for presentation to business leadership). Educating business leaders and the public about the potential consequences of legislation. Developing and implementing government relations initiatives (e.g., trade association member outreach, grassroots employee/public calls to action, political action committees). Responsibilities typically include: managing large projects or processes with limited oversight from manager; coaching, reviewing and delegating work to lower level professionals; facing difficult and complex problems; representing Hitachi Energy with federal governments, ministries and institutions across Saudi Arabia and the Middle East.How You’ll Make An ImpactLead policy engagement and develop executive briefings in collaboration with internal teamsBuild strategic relationships with officials in trade, grid, energy generation, and manufacturingCreate compelling messaging materials and secure thought leadership opportunitiesSupport embassy relations and regional policy initiativesCollaborate with country & regional teams to align policy with business goalsMonitor and influence regulatory developments impacting the power industryDrive brand elevation through strategic advocacy and stakeholder engagementResponsible for ensuring compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelinesEstablish and maintain positive relationships with government bodies and officials at multiple levelsHelp arrange and coordinate Hitachi Energy’s high‑level meetings, visits and events, and prepares briefings/related documents required by external stakeholders and the companyCollaborate with local & regional business & functions stakeholders to drive thought leadership & business impactLiving Hitachi Energy core values of safety and integrity, which means taking responsibility for your own actions while caring for your colleagues and the businessIdeal Candidate Profile8+ years’ experience in government/business/institutional relations or closely related leading corporates or public functions, preferably within the energy sectorExperience both inside & outside of governments, business & trade associations is a plusUniversity degree in Political Science, Economics, Business management, Science, Engineering, or related disciplinesGood understanding of political, regulatory & business processes related to energy sectorProven track record in building strong relationships in a matrixed, fast‑paced environment with dynamic prioritiesYour BackgroundBachelor's degree in related fieldAnalytical & creative thinking, strategic instincts, technology interest & a passion for purposeStrong influencing, advocacy, lobbying skills and experienceExcellent interpersonal, communications skills to influence and negotiate; an ability to effectively explain complicated issues and policy positions to multiple stakeholdersResult‑driven self‑starter attitude; instinctively and consistently creates personal and professional stretch goals and meets themStrong project management skills; ability to set & meet deadlines within a tight timeframeAbility to handle crises and issuesProficiency in both spoken and written English and Arabic language is requiredHitachi Energy is a global technology leader in electrification, powering a sustainable energy future through innovative power grid technologies with digital at the core.
