Firefighter - RFFS

Job PurposeThe job purpose of an aviation firefighter is to perform rescue and firefighting techniques and tactics to ensure safety and compliance with international and national standards, such as those set by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA). This role involves responding to emergencies at an airport, ensuring the operational readiness of firefighting equipment and vehicles, and conducting routine inspections and maintenance. Additionally aviation firefighters are responsible for managing risks, participating in training and development programmes, and building effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to enhance emergency preparedness and ensure a prompt response to incidents.Training and DevelopmentParticipate in educational Fire and Safety awareness programmes.Maintain level of physical fitness as per RAK policies and procedures.Attend identified development programmes for succession planning purposes.Undergo physical and theoretical training according to the Structured Learning Program.ResponsibilitiesOperate Fire Fighting and Rescue Equipment and Tools.Respond to all medical emergencies within area of jurisdiction and scope of training.Adhere to safety standards and practices when responding to/from incidents & accidents.Participate in fire, evacuations, medical and security drills, and exercises.Customer and ReportingReports to the watch commander or leading fireman or his immediate superior.Communication & Working RelationshipsInternal Airport EmployeesProviding rescue and first aid.Conducting risk management.External PassengersProviding rescue and first aid.Conducting risk management.QualificationsEducationalDiploma or equivalent, minimum of high school education (12th Grade) & fluent in the English language (both spoken and written).ProfessionalLight UAE drivers license is highly advantageous.First Aid qualified and licensing is advantageous.Physical RequirementCandidates should be in good general muscular development, with no marked obesity and medically fit.Should not be less than 1.65 metres in height.Have good eyesight.Clean shaven (for the wearing of breathing apparatus).Fit for any manual work, including lifting, climbing and all firefighting related duties.Cannot be Claustrophobic, Acrophobic nor Hemophobia.Entry into service should not be older than 25 years of age.ExperienceRequirements 1 year airport experience in safety, firefighting would be advantageous.Other Requirements – Safety Accountability and ResponsibilitiesAll staff have the following safety responsibilities and are accountable to their supervisor(s) and the Head of Department:To comply with the relevant safety requirements and procedures outlined in the Aerodrome Operations Manual and Safety Management System and any other instructions or notices issued by Ras Al Khaimah International Airport.To comply with the safety requirements detailed within their training.To advise their Head of Department and the Airport Duty Officer team of any safety occurrence or system failure and to identify and report any situation of potential risk or concern affecting safety via one of the following means:Report directly to the Safety Department or an immediate supervisor.Submitting an Accident/ Incident Report.Support safety audits as and investigations as they occur.Competencies Level of ProficiencyBehavioural CompetenciesAction Orientated – MediumConflict Management – MediumAttention to Detail – MediumEthics, Integrity, and Compliance – HighTechnical CompetenciesCommunication Skills – MediumProblem Solving – MediumDecision making – MediumTeamwork – HighKnowledge in Emergency Response Planning – MediumKnowledge in Incident Command System – lowKnowledge in Rescue Operations – MediumAirport Familiarity – HighKnowledge of Applicable Legislation (GCAA, SOPS, ICAO, NFPA) – MediumAdditional InformationFRM/ RAK AIRPORT/ ANN-03 EFFECTIVE DATE: 01.10.2023 Rev:01#J-18808-Ljbffr
