Factory Manager

Job Description Manage daily factory operations for distribution transformer manufacturing. Ensure achievement of production targets, efficiency, and on-time delivery as per planning. Oversee all manufacturing stages: Core cutting & stacking Winding (HV/LV) Assembly & tanking Drying / oil filling Routine & type testing Coordinate with Planning, Purchase, and Stores for uninterrupted production flow. Quality Assurance & Compliance Implement and maintain quality control systems, SOPs, and inspection processes. Handle customer inspections, third-party audits, and utility approvals. Reduce rejection, rework, and field failure rates. Maintenance & Utilities Ensure preventive and breakdown maintenance of machines, testing equipment, and utilities. Maintain plant utilities including power, compressors, oil handling systems, cranes, and drying ovens. Plan spares, AMC contracts, and critical equipment uptime. Manpower & Administration Lead and manage production engineers, supervisors, technicians, and workmen. Workforce planning, shift management, productivity improvement, and skill development. Enforce discipline, safety culture, and HR policies within the plant. Coordinate with HR for hiring, training, and performance management. Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Ensure strict adherence to HSE standards and statutory safety requirements. Implement safety training, PPE usage, and incident prevention measures. Maintain housekeeping and factory discipline. Cost Control & Reporting Monitor and control manufacturing costs, material consumption, scrap, and wastage. Prepare and present production MIS, efficiency reports, and cost analysis to management. Support budgeting, capex planning, and capacity expansion initiatives. Stakeholder Coordination Coordinate with: Utility customers & inspectors Certification bodies Vendors & service providers Corporate engineering & QA teams Support dispatch planning and logistics coordination. Experience 12 - 18 years of experience in distribution transformer manufacturing, with at least 3-5 years as Factory / Plant Manager or Senior Production Head. Strong hands-on exposure to transformer production, testing, and quality systems. Technical Skills In-depth knowledge of: Distribution transformer design & manufacturing processes Transformer testing procedures Manufacturing SOPs and productivity improvement Familiarity with ERP / production MIS systems. Education Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (mandatory). Diploma / certification in Production / Operations / Industrial Management is an advantage.
