Design Manager - Highways

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Design Manager - Highways to join our team in Dubai United Arab this pivotal role you will lead and oversee the design aspects of complex highway projects ensuring the delivery of innovative and efficient transportation solutions.ResponsibilitiesManage and coordinate the design team overseeing all aspects of highway design projects from conception to completionDevelop and implement design strategies aligned with project goals budgets and timelinesCollaborate with cross‑functional teams including engineers architects and environmental specialistsEnsure compliance with local and international highway design standards and regulationsReview and approve design deliverables maintaining high‑quality standards throughout the project lifecycleConduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for design‑related issuesLiaise with clients stakeholders and regulatory bodies to present design concepts and obtain necessary approvalsStay updated on industry trends emerging technologies and best practices in highway design and engineeringMentor and develop junior team members fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvementParticipate in business development activities including proposal preparation and client presentationsQualificationsBachelors degree in Civil Engineering or related field; Masters degree preferredProfessional Engineering (PE) license requiredProject Management Professional (PMP) certification preferredMinimum 15 years of experience in highway design and engineering with a proven track record of managing large‑scale infrastructure projectsProficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar design softwareStrong knowledge of highway design standards transportation planning and traffic engineeringExperience with environmental impact assessments and sustainable design practicesExcellent project management skills including budget control and resource allocationAdvanced problem‑solving and decision‑making abilitiesOutstanding communication and presentation skills with the ability to effectively convey complex technical informationDemonstrated leadership experience in managing and mentoring design teamsFamiliarity with construction methodologies and materials specific to highway projectsAbility to work effectively in a multicultural environment and adapt to local regulations and practices in the UAEAdditional InformationAbout AECOMAECOM is proud to offer comprehensive benefits to meet the diverse needs of our employees.
