Dental Assistant

OverviewThe primary responsibility of a Dental Assistant is to assist the dentist with all clinical aspects within the surgery. This position requires highest level of adherence when it comes to adopting surgery procedures and ensuring proper utilization of surgery time. Providing excellent patient care, maintain effective infection control and handling all equipment and materials with utmost care and safety. Adhering at all times to systems and protocols in line with Clinic strategy, goals and values.ResponsibilitiesGreet and care for all patients within OUR care in a polite and courteous manner at all times.Be fully conversant with all emergency & evacuation procedures.Promote a professional image of the company at all times.Remain in surgery, ensuring that dentists are chaperoned at all times when treating a patient.Identify the patient, introduce yourself to the patient with name and assist patient into surgery, settle them in the chair and prepare them for treatment.Provide patient with personal protective equipment.Provide instruments and materials as necessary during treatment.Provide chair-side assistance during all dental procedures.Ensure all lab work is checked and available prior to patient's arrival.Develop and file all x-rays, whilst adhering to the relevant safety procedures.Maintain a clean environment during surgery.Clean and sterilize all instruments right away after the patient leaves the surgery room and ensure that everything is ready and safe before taking the next patient.Ensure all clinical waste is disposed of in the appropriate manner in compliance with current medical regulations.Always escort the patient from the surgery and when necessary to the reception & waiting area.Ensure all equipment is maintained as per manufacturer's instructions and are cleaned appropriately.Ensure use of checklists provided which clearly outlines a schedule of daily and weekly tasks.Switch equipment on in the morning and ensure it is switched off again at the end of each working session.Ensure that adequate stocks of expendable drugs, materials and instruments are available. Keep a monthly check on materials stocked in each surgery room and their expiry and immediately report the Manager/Head Dental Assistant about the expired items.Ensure that all repairs are reported promptly to the Practice Manager.#J-18808-Ljbffr
