Job Description

The Database Administrator is responsible for the deployment, operation, monitoring, security, and optimization of enterprise database environments across on premises and multi cloud platforms. The role ensures high availability, performance, data protection, and operational stability of database platforms while supporting application teams and business users in a complex, high scale environment.ResponsibilitiesDatabase Operations & AdministrationInstall, configure, upgrade, and operate database platforms across on premises, Azure, and GCP environments.Perform day to day database administration including user management, backup, recovery, and patching.Ensure platform stability and operational readiness.Operate and support hybrid and multi cloud database environments integrating on premises, Azure, and GCP platforms.Support native cloud database services such as Azure SQL, Azure Managed Instance, Azure Fabric, and Google Cloud databases.Ensure seamless connectivity and integration between platforms.High Availability & Disaster RecoveryConfigure and maintain high availability and disaster recovery solutions for mission critical databases.Monitor replication, clustering, failover, and backup mechanisms.Participate in DR planning, testing, and continuous improvement activities.Performance & Capacity ManagementMonitor database performance and proactively resolve performance bottlenecks.Perform tuning of queries, indexes, storage, and configurations for large scale SQL environments.Support capacity planning and growth forecasting.Data Warehouse & Data Lake OperationsOperate and support enterprise data warehouses and data lakes.Ensure high availability, operational stability, and performance optimization for analytics platforms.Support data refresh, loading, and scheduling processes.Security, Compliance & Access ControlImplement and enforce database security controls including access management, encryption, auditing, and logging.Support vulnerability management, patching, and security hardening activities.Ensure compliance with organizational security and data protection policies.Support database projects including new deployments, migrations, upgrades, and modernization initiatives.Automate routine operations and contribute to standard operating procedures.Maintain accurate documentation and operational runbooks.Stakeholder & Team CollaborationWork closely with Systems Architect Lead, application teams, and infrastructure teams.Support business users and application owners with database related requirements.Communicate technical issues clearly and professionally.Qualifications6–8 years of experience as a Database Administrator in enterprise environments.Strong hands on experience with SQL databases in high availability, high performance environmentsExperience supporting on premises, hybrid, and multi cloud database platforms (Azure and/or GCP).Practical experience in backup, recovery, replication, performance tuning, and database operations.Exposure to enterprise data warehouse and analytics platforms is highly desirable.Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.Relevant certifications are preferred, such as:Google Cloud Database or Data Engineer certificationsITIL Foundation or equivalent (desirable)Strong expertise in SQL Server and enterprise grade relational databases.Hands on experience with Azure SQL, Azure Managed Instance, Azure Fabric, and Google Cloud databases.Solid understanding of high availability, disaster recovery, and database security concepts.Experience with database monitoring, alerting, and performance tuning tools.Knowledge of automation, scripting, and operational best practices.Good communication, documentation, and teamwork skills.#J-18808-Ljbffr
