Take a look at this role and apply below to join the Roo family.</p><h3>The Role</h3><p>The role of a Commis Chef is an entry‑level position that serves as the foundation of a professional kitchen brigade, assisting Chefs de Partie with food preparation as per the guidelines, cleaning of small wares and kitchen, station management, inventory management and dispatching at some times of orders. They prepare ingredients, maintain high hygiene standards, and learn fundamental techniques to support daily service, often rotating through stations to develop skills. Above all, should be able to work under minimal supervision and be adaptable to the working culture.</p><h3>Duties and responsibilities</h3><ul><li><p>To be responsible that deliveries from stores or from or to outlets are properly checked with an emphasis on quality, quantity and food safety</p></li><li><p>Represents the food production on a daily basis.</p></li><li><p>Safety training on food handling equipment for the commis.</p></li><li><p>Review the daily production sheets with the Sous Chef</p></li><li><p>Ensure proper hygiene as per Dubai Municipality and ensure the kitchen maintains 100% Food safety scores at all time (A GOLD) as a minimum requirement.</p></li><li><p>Assist in the production and maintenance of par stocks of Meat, Vegetables, Dry Store, as determined by the Chef De Cuisine</p></li><li><p>Organises and supervises the work carried out by commis chefs and apprentices in the area under his/her responsibility.</p></li><li><p>Informs the team about cost optimisation and the reduction of raw material wastage.</p></li><li><p>Controlling the Kitchen food costs to acceptable targets through proper waste management and invoice entry.</p></li><li><p>Ensuring inventory for the kitchen is well managed with no variance evident during stock reconciliation.</p></li><li><p>Ensuring all recipes are followed along with food practices to ensure guest satisfaction</p></li><li><p>Attends meetings and briefings for kitchen staff. Holding pre‑shift meetings to discuss the daily objectives and goals.</p></li><li><p>Setting up the kitchen prior to a restaurant’s opening.</p></li><li><p>Ensuring the Kitchen metrics of prep time, missing items, Riders wait, App rating are properly tracked on a daily basis to drive performance and customer satisfaction.</p></li><li><p>Preparing a particular kitchen station by bringing all food containers to that point in the line.</p></li><li><p>Cooking a specific portion of each plated meal</p></li><li><p>Assisting with marinating, cutting and precooking foods</p></li><li><p>Cleaning the kitchen before the restaurant closes</p></li><li><p>Cleaning and sanitising their area with warm water and soap</p></li><li><p>Wrapping unused items and storing them in proper areas at the end of a shift</p></li><li><p>Plating food creatively and maximising customer enjoyment</p></li></ul><h3>Skills and qualifications</h3><ul><li><p>Excellent verbal and written communication skills</p></li><li><p>Organisational skills</p></li><li><p>In‑depth knowledge of the standards of baking, cooking and grilling techniques</p></li><li><p>Ability to work under pressure and in a fast‑paced environment</p></li><li><p>Ability to quickly learn new recipes and new cooking procedures</p></li><li><p>Time management skills</p></li><li><p>Ability to work efficiently and coopera
