Chief AccountantPosition OverviewA Chief Accountant is responsible for overseeing an organization’s accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and effective financial controls. This role typically manages the accounting team and works closely with senior management to support strategic financial decisions.Key Responsibilities1. Financial Management & ReportingOversee preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statementsEnsure compliance with accounting standards (e.g., IFRS, GAAP)Manage general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and tax reportingReview and approve journal entries and reconciliationsPrepare financial analysis and reports for senior management2. Compliance & Internal ControlsEnsure compliance with local, state, and federal regulationsDevelop and maintain internal accounting controlsCoordinate internal and external auditsMonitor changes in accounting legislation and standards3. Budgeting & ForecastingLead annual budgeting processMonitor budget performance and analyze variancesProvide financial forecasts and recommendations4. Team LeadershipSupervise and mentor accounting staffAssign tasks and review performanceConduct training and development programs5. Tax & Audit CoordinationEnsure timely and accurate tax filingsLiaise with external auditors and tax consultantsPrepare audit schedules and documentationRequired QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related fieldProfessional certification (CPA, ACCA, CMA) preferred5–10+ years of accounting experience, including supervisory rolesStrong knowledge of accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks)Advanced proficiency in Microsoft ExcelIn-depth understanding of financial regulations and reporting standardKey Skills & CompetenciesStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsAttention to detail and high level of accuracyLeadership and team management skillsExcellent communication and presentation skillsTime management and ability to meet deadlinesEthical judgment and integrity#J-18808-Ljbffr
