Industry (preferred) Management Consulting NGO / Development Sector Agriculture / Agri-tech Job Description We are hiring a Business Development Manager to drive partnerships and strategic opportunities across corporate, government, and institutional clients. Role Overview The Manager Business Development & Partnerships will work closely with senior leadership to identify, shape and convert strategic opportunities. The role combines partnership development, solution design and proposal leadership, with ownership of opportunities from early engagement through to conversion and structured handover to delivery teams. The role requires strong commercial judgement, the ability to work confidently with data and risk concepts, and the skill to translate analytical inputs into clear, compelling client-ready narratives. Responsibilities 1. Business Development & Partnerships Identify, qualify and pursue strategic business opportunities across corporate, government and institutional partners. Prepare and submit Expression of Interest (EOIs), Request for Proposals (RFPs), and concept notes for government and semi-government agencies. Lead the development of high-quality pitch decks, concept notes, EOIs and RFP responses Maintain visibility and momentum across the opportunity pipeline, driving follow-ups and decision-making Monitor policy and regulatory developments that may influence current or future engagements. 2. Strategic Communication & Stakeholder Engagement Develop and implement strategic communication plans aligned with project and organizational goals. Prepare high-impact presentations, reports, briefs, and proposals for internal and external stakeholders, especially government partners. Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, partners, and government stakeholders. Represent the organisation in key stakeholder meetings, conferences, and policy discussions. 3. Project Management Own opportunities from early engagement through award, ensuring clarity on scope, assumptions, timelines and stakeholder responsibilities. Oversee the implementation of ongoing government-linked projects, ensuring timely delivery, compliance, and impact reporting. Act as a central point of contact for coordination between internal teams, field partners, and government agencies. Track project milestones, manage risks, and prepare regular status updates and dashboards. Requirements and skills Bachelor's/Masters degree in Business Administration, Development Studies, Communications, Economics or related fields. 5 years of experience in business development, project management, or strategic communications preferably in sectors like agri-tech, sustainability, insurance, or rural development. Proven ability to create high-quality, client-ready pitch decks, presentations and written proposals. Excellent written and verbal communication skills Proven experience in managing complex, multi-stakeholder projects. Proficient in MS Office, PowerPoint, and project management tools. Preferred Attributes Prior experience in working with development agencies and government bodies. Understanding of climate risk, agriculture, insurance, or rural livelihoods sectors.
