Job Description
Job Description As an AVP Macro Product Control at Barclays, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the financial aspects of trading activities. Your main responsibilities will include:
- Reconciliation of daily profit and loss (P&L) figures for trading desks to ensure alignment with valued positions in the trading book, investigating and resolving discrepancies as needed.
- Supporting the identification, assessment, and mitigation of trading risks, reporting on financial risks to senior colleagues.
- Maintaining and analyzing the banks trading data for accuracy, completeness, and consistency, providing insights to traders and senior colleagues on trading performance.
- Preparing and submitting regulatory reports to authorities, supporting external audits, and ensuring trading activities are appropriately reflected in financial statements.
- Effectively communicating complex financial information to various stakeholders, both internally and externally.
- Collaborating cross-functionally to ensure a coordinated approach to trading activities.
In addition to the above responsibilities, you will be expected to:
- Advise and influence decision-making, contribute to policy development, and take responsibility for operational effectiveness.
- Lead a team in performing complex tasks, setting objectives, coaching employees, and appraising performance.
- Identify ways to mitigate risk, develop new policies/procedures, and strengthen controls in support of the control and governance agenda.
- Engage in complex analysis of data from multiple sources to creatively solve problems and communicate complex information effectively.
- Influence stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes.
To excel in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and skills:
- Experience with MS Office toolkit (Word, PPT, Excel, Access Database, etc.).
- Qualified accountant.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills in formal and informal settings.
- Strong control awareness with the ability to identify and escalate potential control breakdowns.
- Detail-oriented and analytical.
- Confident and assertive manner.
- Additional qualifications such as CFA/masters in finance/financial engineering or experience in audit in large financial institutions/banks would be advantageous.
