<div><p><b>Construction Manager – Civil</b>is responsible for managing all<b>civil construction activities</b>in an electrical substation project (e.g., 33kV, 132kV, 220kV, or higher). The role ensures that civil works such as foundations, structures, roads, and drainage are completed<b>safely, according to design, within schedule, and within budget</b>.</p><ul><li>Review<b>civil drawings, specifications, and construction scope</b>for the substation.</li><li>Develop and monitor<b>construction schedules</b>for civil works.</li><li>Coordinate civil activities with electrical and mechanical installation teams.</li><li>Plan sequencing for:<ul><li>Earthworks</li><li>Foundations</li><li>Equipment structures</li><li>Buildings and infrastructure</li></ul></li><li>Manage<b>site clearing, excavation, grading, and leveling</b>.</li><li>Supervise<b>cut and fill operations</b>to achieve required platform levels.</li><li>Ensure proper<b>soil compaction and ground improvement</b>.</li><li>Coordinate geotechnical requirements based on soil investigation reports.</li></ul><h3>Foundations for Electrical Equipment</h3><p>Supervise construction of foundations for major substation equipment such as:</p><ul><li>Power transformer foundations</li><li>Circuit breaker foundations</li><li>Gantry structures</li><li>Bus support structures</li><li>CT/VT and isolator foundations</li></ul><p>Ensure foundations meet<b>load requirements, anchor bolt positioning, and tolerances</b>.</p><h3>Substation Buildings&Structures</h3><p>Oversee construction of:</p><ul><li>Control building</li><li>Relay room</li><li>GIS building (if applicable)</li><li>Security buildings and guard houses</li><li>Cable cellars and trenches</li></ul><p>Ensure buildings comply with<b>structural and architectural specifications</b>.</p><h3>Cable Trenches&Duct Banks</h3><ul><li>Supervise construction of<b>cable trenches, cable ducts, and cable vaults</b>.</li><li>Ensure proper routing and spacing for electrical cables.</li><li>Coordinate trench construction with electrical installation teams.</li></ul><h3>Drainage&Stormwater Management</h3><ul><li>Ensure installation of<b>substation drainage systems</b>.</li><li>Supervise construction of:<ul><li>Oil containment pits for transformers</li><li>Stormwater drains</li><li>Water collection systems</li></ul></li><li>Ensure proper slope and water flow away from equipment areas.</li></ul><h3>Roads, Fencing&External Works</h3><ul><li>Internal access roads and pavements</li><li>Equipment access routes for heavy transport</li><li>Boundary walls and security fencing</li><li>Gates and site entrances</li></ul><h3>8. Grounding Grid Civil Works Support</h3><p>Coordinate civil works required for installation of the<b>substation grounding grid</b>, ensuring proper trenching and backfilling for earthing conductors.</p><h3>Material&Resource Management</h3><ul><li>Coordinate procurement and delivery of construction materials such as:<ul><li>Concrete</li><li>Reinforcement steel</li><li>Structural steel</li><li>Precast elements</li></ul></li><li>Manage manpower, equipment, and subcontractors.</li></ul><h3>Testing&Inspection</h3><ul><li>Supervise and verify:<ul><li>Concrete slump tests</li><li>Cube strength tests</li><li>Soil compaction tests</li><li>Reinforcement inspections before concreting</li></ul></li></ul><h3>Progress Monitoring&Reporting</h3><ul><li>Track daily progress of civil works.</li><li>Prepare<b>weekly and monthly reports</b>.</li><li>Identify delays and implement corrective actions.</li><li>Coordinate with project managers, consultants, and clients.</li></ul></div>#J-18808-Ljbffr
