Assistant / Project Manager

Atkins has been established in the Gulf for over 40 years, having first carried out design and supervision commissions in the Gulf area in 1967. The regional head office (Dubai) was established in 1979.We provide a full range of design, engineering and project management services for buildings, transportation and other infrastructure programmes.Atkins in the Middle East now employs around 2,000 staff serving Gulf clients across all market sectors from offices in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Doha, Dubai, Jeddah, Kuwait City, Manama, Muscat, Riyadh, Sharjah. The Emerging Markets Business focuses on markets outside the Gulf region in areas where Atkins are not yet established including North Africa, Middle East and Eurasia.Due to continued growth our Emerging Markets Business are looking to recruit an Assistant / Project Manager to be based in Dubai to work on a number of projects in the Middle East, North Africa and Eurasia.Qualifications and ResponsibilitiesMust be Degree qualified Architect or EngineerMinimum of 5 years experience in consultancy/construction firmFluent knowledge of English – spoken and writtenForming and managing relationships with clients, networking and promoting the CompanyAble to author competent technical reports of acceptable technical and presentational quality with no rework requiredAble to manage the drafting of successful responses to bids within their area of expertiseAble to check work of all those in the project teamAble to realistically estimate pricing/timing associated with projects within their area of expertiseClear knowledge of work procedures, and ability to brief project team on themAn effective team member able to apply knowledge gainedResponsible for completion of projects to time, cost and qualityDeveloping relationships with Atkins colleagues outside of business areaIncreasing knowledge of, and use of Atkins, capabilities outside of business unitsFlexible and enthusiastic and able to make sound judgementsBuilding relationships with clientsAble to discuss in detail with clients the local business (Divisional) technologies and marketsManagerial (Project and/or People) RoleDisplay strong team management skills.Understanding of People Management issues and can conduct staff development and appraisals and can demonstrate a prior track recordFully conversant with the commercial aspects of project managementProven project management skills having had responsibility for completion of projects to time and costGood leadership qualities and gains respect from colleaguesFunctional RelationshipsClientsProject DirectorsProject ManagersDelivery Team – Architects / Engineers / Sub-consultants / Cost Management TeamHead of DepartmentsAbout The CompanyAtkins is one of the leading providers of professional, technology based consultancy and support services to the industry, commerce and governments in all of the world’s major economies.
