Job Description

The assist and work under the supervision of Nursing/Midwifery/ Obstetric team doctors in delivering high-quality care within King’s College Hospital (KCH), while adhering to evidence-based guidelines and unit-specific competencies. Can work in Labour Unit, Triage unit and Caesarean OT.ResponsibilitiesTo work as part of the multidisciplinary team in providing top quality care for patients of KCH ensuring that any concerns regarding a patient’s condition is escalated to the registered midwife / nurse in a timely manner.Assists in measures of support for women in labour under the supervision of nurse such as massage, mobilization etcAttach CTG monitor to the patientProvide antenatal health education regarding pregnancy health, discharge instructions and breastfeeding adviseAssist the RM/RN in active labour in basic procedures like positioning and providing non pharmaceutical comfort methods.Assist Anaesthetists to set up delivery trolly and Epidural trolley, without medication.Promote skin to skin contact and early initiation of breastfeeding.Provides post-partum care including assisting the mother with the feeding and care of her babyProvide basic nursing care to stable newborn babies like taking measurements, checking vital signs, dressing the baby.Monitor and record Maternal and Neonatal vital signs and report and abnormalitiesCan assist in preparing a woman for EL or EM C-section following policy.To assist as the baby receiver in Elective Caesarean Sections accompanied by Neonatologist after completing NRPPerforming quality control check for Point-of-Care Testing (POCT) glucometer and addressing troubleshooting requirements when necessary.Perform blood glucose monitoring for both newborns and adults.Promotes breastfeeding and complies with BFHI practices.Performs other job-related duties as assigned (within scope of practice)Complies with all the KCH policies, procedures, and fire regulationsAssists registered nurses in performing basic duties that are in line with the facility, M, JCI, FDON policies, procedures and standardsMaintains a safe, clean environment using approved infection control practicesActs as a chaperone for patients as required, preserving the patient’s dignityAssists RM/RN in turning, moving, or transporting patients on a stretcher or wheelchair.Assists those patients who are unable to feed themselvesMaking an unoccupied bed or assisting a RN/RM to make an occupied bedWeighing of ambulatory patientsCleaning up after procedures, treating used instruments as per standard precautionsTransporting of specimens as appropriate after ensuring that it is correctly labelledTo assist RM/RM in preparation of pre op patient such as helping the patient change into a gown, part preparation and application of ted stockings.Reinforce instructions given to the patient by the Physician and Registered Nurse, referring new needs for instruction to the Registered Nurse.Respond to all levels of emergencies in accordance with organizational policies and procedures.Works along side stock controller to monitor, charge and allocate stock controlPerform any additional duties reasonably assigned by the organization or line manager, even if not explicitly listed in this job description, to meet operational needs and support specific objectives of your department and organizationQualificationsDiploma of Nursing not less than eighteen (18) months course durationHas worked in hospital or similar setting for at least 2 yearsProficient in basic computer applications, including MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), with the ability to manage digital documentation and communication effectively.Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, patients, and stakeholders.#J-18808-Ljbffr
