Animal Keeper

The Keeper performs all job assignments with a positive attitude that reflects company’s mission and vision of connecting people to wildlife and conservation. The Keeper, under supervision, feeds and provides for the general care and welfare of assigned exhibit animals.Job Purpose:Ensure adequate level of care and husbandry delivered to animals on daily basis.Key Tasks and Duties:Prepares food and water for exhibit animals.Loads and unloads animal food.Feeds exhibit animals.Administers prescribed medication and keeps feeding records.Observes assigned animals.Reports abnormal conditions to superiors.Cleans exhibit areas, pools, animal sleeping areas and service areas.Cleans and disinfects utensils, work tools and containers.Provides species-appropriate enrichment to assigned animals.Maintains appropriate health and behaviour records on assigned animals.Participates in capturing, incapacitating and moving animals.Participates in and supports animal training programs.Assists veterinary staff in treating animals.Performs minor or routine maintenance on exhibit enclosures.Reports maintenance needs.Operates a variety of light and medium equipment.Apply all health and safety practices and requirements.Undertakes similar or related duties where appropriate.Role Requirements:High school diploma or equivalentAt least 2 years working experience in caring with exotic animals (birds, mammals, reptiles, and insects)Basic animal care skillsBasic knowledge of wild animal’s behavior and requirementsSkills in proper handling of wild animalsFundamentals of environment and conservationBasic reporting skillsTeamwork and communication skillsBasic knowledge of health and safety.Good in written and verbal communication in English language.#J-18808-Ljbffr
