Located strategically near the Palm and the Burj Khalifa, the University benefits from the huge investment and innovation opportunities the city is known for globally.*QS World University Rankings 2024**Data from the Graduate Destination Survey 2017 to 2021About the RoleThe University of Wollongong in Dubai (UOWD) is seeking a suitably qualified academic to teach RESH 900 – Fundamentals for HDR Writing, a core subject in the PhD program.RESH 900 is designed for first‑year Higher Degree Research (HDR) candidates and supports students as they undertake their first major piece of doctoral‑level writing, a key milestone in the early stages of their research candidature.The successful candidate will guide HDR students in developing academic writing capability, critical engagement with the literature, and confidence in scholarly communication in English, within a business research context.Key Responsibilities:The appointee will be responsible for:Teaching and coordinating RESH 900 – Fundamentals for HDR Writing within the PhD programSupporting first‑year HDR candidates in developing their initial major research writing relevant to their PhD projectAssisting students to:Quickly locate and evaluate high‑quality academic literatureCritically read, analyse, and discuss literature in relation to a defined research topicSynthesise scholarly sources to build a coherent academic argumentGuiding students through structured processes for writing key research components, including:Methodology‑related writingAcademic framing and scholarly argumentationSupporting students to improve the organisation, clarity, and coherence of their written work, including:Revising and refining paragraphsAddressing grammatical and stylistic issues at sentence levelAssisting HDR candidates to develop confidence and proficiency in written academic English, particularly in a research‑intensive contextHelping students design and develop coherent, discipline‑specific literature reviews aligned with their current stage of PhD candidatureAbout YouApplicants must demonstrate:A completed PhDAcademic research experience in Business or a closely related disciplineExperience supporting or teaching HDR / PhD‑level research writingDemonstrated expertise in academic writing pedagogy and research communicationHigh‑level proficiency in written and spoken EnglishAbility to work effectively with HDR candidates from diverse linguistic and cultural backgroundsExperience teaching doctoral‑level research or writing subjectsFamiliarity with HDR candidature milestones (e.g. proposal or confirmation writing)Experience supporting research students writing in English as an additional languageWhy Join UOWDContribute to the development of high‑quality doctoral researchTeach within an Australian‑aligned PhD program at an internationally recognised universityEngage with a diverse, research‑active HDR cohort in DubaiUOWD is an equal opportunity employer that attracts, develops, motivates, empowers, and retains a diverse workforce.Note: you will be required to attach the following:#J-18808-Ljbffr
