Assistant / Associate Professor of EnglishSchool of Arts and SciencesAmerican University of Ras Al KhaimahThe School of Arts and Sciences, Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at the American University of Ras Al Khaimah invites applications for a full-time faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor of English, beginning August 2026. The successful candidate will contribute to the university’s General Education Program, offering courses in academic writing, composition, and literature. Candidates should demonstrate a strong record of scholarship, excellence in research and teaching, and a commitment to student-centered learning.ResponsibilitiesTeach undergraduate courses in academic writing, communication, and English literature.Contribute to the design, delivery, and assessment of writing and communication components within the General Education program.Maintain an active research agenda with publications in peer-reviewed and Scopus-indexed journals.Advise and mentor undergraduate students, supporting their academic and professional development.Participate in curriculum development, program review, and continuous quality improvement efforts.Engage in departmental, school, and university-level service and committee work.Contribute to outreach, collaboration, and interdisciplinary initiatives that enhance AURAK’s academic profile.Required QualificationsPh.D. in English, Rhetoric and Composition, Applied Linguistics, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.A record of scholarly publications commensurate with appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor.Demonstrated excellence in teaching academic writing and composition at the university level.Experience teaching students from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds.Evidence of engagement with innovative, student-centered, and high-impact teaching practices.Preferred QualificationsExperience in curriculum design, writing program development, or writing across the curriculum (WAC/WID) initiatives.Familiarity with universities following the American model of higher education.Experience in mentoring undergraduate research or supervising honors theses.Interest in interdisciplinary collaboration across humanities and social sciences.#J-18808-Ljbffr
