Senior/Lead Software Engineer - Backend

<div><p><b>Position Type:</b>Full-time</p><p><b>Locations:</b>Riyadh (Onsite) / Egypt (Remote)</p><h3>Job Summary</h3><p>We are seeking a Senior Backend Software Engineer to join our Backend team. You will own the design, development, and operation of backend systems that power our Decision Intelligence platform — from core microservices and API layers through to data architecture and event-driven pipelines. This is a high-impact role where you take full ownership of what you ship.</p><h3>Backend System Development</h3><ul><li>Design, develop, and maintain modular backend components</li><li>Build both synchronous and event-driven services</li><li>Implement core infrastructure: dynamic configuration, service discovery, and system orchestration</li><li>Build asynchronous processing pipelines, background jobs, and event-driven workflows</li></ul><h3>API Development&Management</h3><ul><li>Design and maintain highly-available API endpoints (RESTful, GraphQL, gRPC)</li><li>Ensure API reliability, versioning, and documentation standards across services</li><li>Implement rate limiting, caching strategies, and API gateway patterns</li></ul><h3>Database&Data Architecture</h3><ul><li>Design and implement database schemas and data models (relational, document, or hybrid)</li><li>Optimize queries, manage migrations, and ensure data integrity across services</li><li>Work with data engineers on ingestion, transformation, and serving layers</li></ul><h3>Infrastructure&Deployment</h3><ul><li>Work with containerized deployments (Docker, ECS, EKS) and AWS cloud infrastructure</li><li>Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting for backend services</li></ul><h3>Collaboration, Code Quality&Security</h3><ul><li>Work closely with frontend, data, platform, and DevOps teams to deliver integrated solutions</li><li>Contribute to architectural discussions and technical decision-making</li><li>Mentor mid-level and junior engineers on backend engineering best practices</li><li>Write high-quality, well-tested production code with comprehensive unit and integration tests</li><li>Enforce security best practices: authentication, authorization, encryption, input validation</li><li>Conduct and participate in code reviews to maintain code quality</li></ul><h3>Qualifications</h3><p><b>Education:</b>Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.</p><p><b>Experience:</b>Minimum of 5 years in software engineering, with strong backend development expertise and a track record of building production systems.</p><h3>Technical Skills</h3><ul><li>Strong proficiency in Java/Kotlin with hands-on experience in Spring Boot and the Spring ecosystem (Spring MVC, Spring Data, Spring Security, Spring Cloud)</li><li>Solid understanding of system design: microservices, event-driven architecture, API design patterns, and data modeling</li><li>Strong API development experience (RESTful, GraphQL, gRPC) including designing and maintaining highly-available endpoints</li><li>Hands-on experience with AWS — ECS, Lambda, SQS/SNS, RDS, DynamoDB, S3, API Gateway</li><li>Experience with relational and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, MongoDB, Redis, AWS Aurora)</li><li>Practical experience with Docker, Kubernetes (EKS), and container-based deployments</li><li>Familiarity with modern authentication schemes such as OAuth, JWTs, or cookies</li><li>Strong testing practices: unit tests, integration tests, and familiarity with testing frameworks</li><li>Strong understanding of database schema design, query optimization, and data modeling</li><li>Excellent communication and leadership skills, adaptable, self-motivated, and capable of thriving in a fast-paced, unstructured startup environment</li><li>Strong ownership mentality — you ship it, you run it, you own it</li></ul><h3>Nice to Have</h3><ul><li>Experience with building scalable, high-reliability, or data-intensive backend systems</li><li>Experience with event-driven architectures and message brokers (Kafka, SQS/SNS, EventBridge)</li><li>Exposure to Infrastructure-as-Code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation)</li><li>Experience with monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, DataDog, CloudWatch)</li><li>Experience with AI/ML-adjacent systems — building backends that serve or integrate machine learning models and data pipelines</li><li>Familiarity with multi-tenant architecture patterns</li><li>Experience working in fast-paced startup environments, contributing to rapid development and delivery-driven projects</li></ul></div>#J-18808-Ljbffr
