Senior Engineer - Bridges & Tunnels

WSP is seeking a highly skilled Senior Engineer – Bridges & Tunnels to join our team in Abu Dhabi. The successful candidate will play a key role in the design and delivery of major bridge and tunnel projects, working closely with Abu Dhabi‑based clients and authorities.This position requires strong technical expertise in bridge design, a solid understanding of local standards and approval processes, and the ability to deliver high‑quality solutions on complex infrastructure projects.ResponsibilitiesLead and contribute to the concept, preliminary, and detailed design of bridge and tunnel structuresDeliver structural designs in compliance with Abu Dhabi and UAE codes, standards, and authority requirementsPrepare and review design calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical reportsCoordinate with multidisciplinary teams including roads, geotechnical, drainage, utilities, and construction teamsInterface directly with Abu Dhabi‑based clients and authorities, providing technical input and responding to commentsSupport design submissions, technical reviews, and authority approvalsProvide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and graduatesIdentify and manage technical risks, ensuring safe, efficient, and cost‑effective design solutionsSupport value engineering, constructability reviews, and design optimizationAssist project managers with programme, resource planning, and technical deliveryEnsure designs align with WSP’s quality, safety, and sustainability standardsQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s degree preferred)Minimum 8–12 years of relevant experience in bridges and tunnels designDemonstrated experience working on Abu Dhabi‑based bridge projects within a consultancy environmentStrong knowledge of AASHTO, UK Standards, Eurocodes, and relevant UAE/Abu Dhabi standardsProven experience interacting with Abu Dhabi authorities and clientsProficiency in industry‑standard design software (e.g. MIDAS, LUSAS, RM Bridge, Civil 3D, or similar)Chartered or near‑Chartered status (ICE, IStructE, or equivalent) is highly desirableExcellent communication and technical reporting skillsImagine a better future for you and a better future for us all.Join our close-knit community of talented individuals who share your passion for making a positive impact.
