For more information, visit us at www.amideast.org.POSITION DESCRIPTIONWe are seeking a creative, forward‑thinking, and organized professional to represent Amideast in the State of Qatar. The preferred candidate will be currently based in Qatar and have existing professional contacts in the Qatari business, academic, and philanthropic communities. You will assist in establishing and overseeing the local operations of Amideast, develop and maintain relationships with key partners and stakeholders especially from the business and academic communities, and ensure compliance with local regulations. The position will report to the Vice President of Development and External Engagement at Amideast Headquarters in the US, will represent the organization at events, and will spearhead new business and program initiatives. The Qatar Country Representative will also be responsible for monitoring market trends, identifying growth opportunities, and troubleshooting operational challenges. This position requires a balance of demonstrated strategic thinking, marketing and outreach experience, hands‑on program and personnel management skills, and an entrepreneurial mindset.RESPONSIBILITIESStrategic Leadership and Planning:Develop and implement strategies for business growth by creating marketing plans and outreach activities that align with Amideast’s overall mission and objectives in QatarIdentify new programming opportunities and areas where the organization can demonstrate its value and relevance to Qatar business, academic, youth, and government sectorsIdentify potential risks and develop strategies to mitigate themStakeholder Engagement and Representation:Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including business, academic, and government officials, partner organizations, donors, and community leadersRepresent the organization at meetings, conferences, and other events, advocating for its mission and workEstablish and maintain relationships with government representatives and policymakers to advocate for the organization’s goals and ensure compliance with local regulationsEnsure effective communication and collaboration amongst Amideast’s country office, Headquarters, and external stakeholdersProgram Management and Operations:Overseeing project implementation, as required, to ensure that projects are implemented effectively and efficiently, meeting agreed‑upon goals and objectivesManaging the country office budget and financial resources, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and policiesOversee administrative, logistical, security, and risk management functions for the country officeEnsure the country office complies with all relevant local regulations, policies, and proceduresHuman Resources Management:Provide leadership and guidance to staff, as requiredReporting and Communication:Prepare regular reports and updates on program activities, outcomes, and challengesCommunicate effectively with stakeholders, both internally and externally, to share information and build support for the organization’s workQUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLSA minimum of a BA/BS degree in a related field (Master’s degree preferred)Experience working for, or strong knowledge of, non‑profit organizations in the international education or development fieldA minimum of 5 years of relevant marketing and sales experience in QatarAn established network of active professional contacts in Qatar in the corporate, government, and academic sectorsExperience developing detailed market analyses and associated business plansDependable team player who can perform regular, detail‑oriented duties while also being proactive and offering creative ideas for effective and engaging communicationSelf‑starter with the ability to take initiative, meet deadlines, and multi‑task in a dynamic and fast‑paced environmentCurrent residency in Qatar strongly preferredFluency in Arabic strongly preferredWORK ENVIRONMENTThe incumbent in this position will work in a professional office environment and will utilize the following equipment when working from an Amideast office or remote home office (on a hybrid basis):TelephoneThe physical demands and work environment that have been described is representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this position.
