Library Officer - Emirati Hire

As a Library Officer you will support the operations of the museum’s specializedlibrary and resource centre dedicated to research, documentation, and preservation of art and cultural collections. You will help maintain and provide access to library resources, assist researchers and museum staff with enquiries, and ensure the library functions smoothly and professionally as part of the museum’s research and learning infrastructure.Key ResponsibilitiesLibrary OperationsAssist with the day-to-day management of the library’s print and digital collections, including cataloguing, shelving, and circulation tasks.Maintain accurate records of library holdings and ensure systems (catalogue, database) are up to date and accessible.Monitor library inventory, identify missing materials, and support acquisition processes.User Support & Research AssistanceProvide high-quality service to library users, including museum staff, researchers, and students, helping them locate and access relevant resources and materials.Respond to queries about library policies, resources, search tools, and research methodologies.Support users in navigating specialised art history and cultural heritage databases and electronic resources.Assist with classification and metadata work, following library and archival standards to ensure discoverability of materials.Help maintain the online catalogue and research database for the museum’s collection documentation materials.Monitor library systems for data quality and contribute to ongoing improvements.Support for Museum Research & ProgramsCollaborate with curators, researchers, and other departments to support research projects and special initiatives.Assist in preparation of materials for exhibitions, publications, or research events where library reference materials or documentation are required.Contribute to user education by assisting with orientation sessions and demonstrations of library tools as needed.General Administrative TasksPrepare reports, usage statistics, and records related to library activities.Support development and revision of library policies and procedures to enhance service delivery.Maintain professional contacts with external information and library networks where relevant.Skills & QualificationsEducation & ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Library Science, Records Management, Archival, Information Studies, Museum Studies, Art History or a related field.Experience in library or research support roles — ideally within cultural institutions, academic libraries, or museums.Knowledge & SkillsFamiliarity with library cataloguing standards and integrated library systems.Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.Excellent communication skills to assist diverse users effectively.Proficiency with online research tools, e-resources, databases and Microsoft Office software.Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.Knowledge of art history, cultural heritage research methods, or museum documentation practices.Additional language skills (e.g., French, Arabic) to support the museum’s multilingual research community.User-focused service orientationInformation organisation and retrievalResearch support and reference assistanceAccurate documentation and metadata handling#J-18808-Ljbffr
