OverviewWe are seeking an experienced and passionate Head of Physical Education to lead and further develop the PE department for the next academic year. The successful candidate will be an outstanding practitioner with proven leadership skills and strong experience delivering GCSE and A Level Physical Education.This is a key middle leadership role, responsible for curriculum design, teaching quality, staff development, and promoting a culture of health, fitness, and competitive sport across the school.ResponsibilitiesLead, manage, and develop the PE department across Secondary and Sixth FormDeliver high-quality teaching and learning in GCSE and A Level PEDesign and implement an engaging, inclusive, and progressive PE curriculumMonitor student progress, assessment, and examination outcomesSupport and mentor PE staff, including performance management and professional developmentOrganise and oversee extracurricular sports programmes, fixtures, and eventsPromote student wellbeing, teamwork, and a lifelong love of physical activityEnsure health and safety standards are consistently metContribute to whole-school initiatives and the wider life of the schoolQualifications / SkillsA recognised teaching qualification (B Ed in Physical Education)Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalentProven experience teaching GCSE and A Level Physical EducationPrevious experience in a leadership or coordination role within a PE departmentStrong knowledge of British curriculum requirements and examination specificationsExcellent classroom management and organisational skillsA commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of childrenThe ability to inspire students and staff through a positive, energetic leadership styleGEMS Education is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all of its students and staff.
