OverviewThe Arbor School seeks a special individual for an exciting opportunity within our school. The successful candidate will play a key role in fulfilling the school’s ecological and sustainability vision, as well as challenging students to fulfil their potential within the academic disciplines. We are seeking a highly motivated Ecoliteracy, Geography and Global Perspectives Teacher to join the growing Humanities department in Secondary School. The Humanities faculty consists of Geography, History, Social Studies, Global Perspectives and Ecoliteracy teachers. It is a core part of the school’s curriculum due to the ethos of the school and sits at the heart of outstanding practice.Enough For All, Forever. We want students to experience a sense of accomplishment and self-efficacy through their actions at home, in school and in the wider world.Job SummaryThe successful candidate will be proficient and experienced in teaching Eco-literacy, Geography and/or Global Perspectives, ideally with experience of teaching across GCSE/iGCSE and developing an A Level or IB programme. They should articulate clear plans for curriculum mapping, have strong knowledge of assessment and data tools, and be motivated to develop the Eco curriculum in the school. They will form an integral component of the Humanities team, teaching across Key Stages 3-5, and will help stretch students to achieve their potential and beyond while fostering a love for ecological topics.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and implement engaging lessons that align with the school\'s ecoliteracy principles, emphasising sustainability, environmental awareness, and global citizenship within the curriculum with flexibility.Review and refine the curriculum and lesson plans for KS3, KS4, and KS5, integrating sustainability concepts, environmental studies, and geographical knowledge to develop students\' understanding of the world\'s interconnectedness.Lead inquiry-based learning experiences, encouraging students to explore real-world issues through field work and educational visits.Collaborate with colleagues to infuse sustainability practices and ecoliteracy into cross-curricular activities, ensuring lessons contribute to a broader understanding of ecological systems and their impact on our world.Encourage an inclusive and stimulating learning environment where students actively engage with sustainability topics, facilitate discussions, and showcase their understanding through design-thinking projects that promote environmental stewardship and geographical understanding.Required Candidate ProfileNative-level English language skillsBachelor’s degree in Geography, Environmental Education, Environmental Sciences or similar, with a PGCE in Education with QTS or equivalentA minimum of 3 years of experience teaching in the UK or a reputable British school overseasA track record of outstanding GCSE and/or A Level examination resultsA track record of outstanding teaching and learning, and an ability to create a caring and nurturing classroom environmentRemunerationA competitive tax-free compensation package will be provided in accordance with School\'s policy and UAE labour law regulations.ApplicationTo apply for this position, please complete the application on TES and upload:An up-to-date CV with a recent photograph to be included.A letter of application, no longer than two pages in length, which outlines your educational philosophy and suitability for the Arbor School.The Arbor School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all the students in our care and expects all applicants to share this commitment.
