Job Description

Role PurposeThe Director – Risk and Compliance is responsible for overseeing and controlling the risk and compliance issues in all aspects of the operations with a view to mitigate the operational and regulatory and compliance related matters of the country of operations. The role holder is also responsible for identifying and resolving control weaknesses or other related risk and compliance cases.Key Responsibilities and AccountabilitiesStrategic Planning and ImplementationOversee the development of short and long-term planning, deployment of resources, budgeting and expense control for the Risk and Compliance Department in the assigned countryProvide support to management teams to assure the efficient implementation and maintenance of inventory control and safetyProvide support to management in order to address Internal Audit recommendations and the implementation of corrective actionsRisk ManagementDirect independent, cost effective and efficient risk management services to all the Countries across MAF RetailDrive and implement corrective action plans for resolution of disasters and other problematic issues, and provide general guidance on how to avoid or deal with similar situations in the futureIdentify potential risks and propose action plans to ensure safe conditions for assets, merchandise and environmentRisk Evaluation and AnalysisIdentify, highlight and report emerging risks and threats, and provide advice where requiredDirect, monitor, and evaluate the risk assessment to assure optimum productivity and compliance to corporate risk and compliance initiatives, programs, and proceduresIdentify and assess risks against set parameters, through qualitative and quantitative analysis and provide corrective action plansAudit FrameworkEvaluate the effectiveness of the company’s internal control framework by addressing risks and accomplishing the company’s goals and objectives and provide feedback to managementRisk and Compliance InvestigationEvaluate and recommend the initiation of investigative procedures in response to alleged violations of rules, regulations, policies, procedures and standards of conductDirect internal theft, breach of ethics, corruption and fraud investigations to ensure timely and appropriate resolutionCollaborate with the Internal Audit Department, in matters of serious investigations and casesCoordinate with functions across the organization to ensure the appropriate response to all incidents takes placeRelationship ManagementDevelop and maintain partnerships with regulatory bodies, local law enforcement agencies and members of the retail risk and compliance communityAct as company representative with local law enforcement, regulatory agencies, courts and legal practitionersReportingAnalyse the results from the risk assessment and prepare the reports for management presentationOversee the development of the risk dashboard and risk related reports for the Senior Management on the most important concerns identified by the Risk and Compliance departmentHuman Capital ResponsibilitiesEnsure the implementation of the performance management processProvide mentorship for the purpose of developing a continuous talent pipeline for key rolesIdentify training needs and coordinate with the HC department to ensure facilitation of training requirementsOversee the development and implementation of on the job-trainingEnsure constant availability of the required competent staff to support the organization in meeting all its responsibilities, plans, and objectivesProvide inputs while developing MAF Retail’s corporate policies and relevant procedures, and monitor the implementationDisclaimerDisclaimer: This role description reflects the general details considered necessary to describe the principal responsibilities of the role identified and shall not be construed as an exhaustive description of all the work requirements inherent to success in the role.Definition of SuccessRisk management framework in placeTimeliness and accuracy of activitiesEffective risk mitigationTimely communication of risk awarenessRisk recommendations made are reliableCompliance with procedural and legislative requirementsEffective communication of policies and proceduresOther Context (if applicable)Minimum Qualifications and EducationBachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance Risk Management or equivalentMBA is preferredRisk and Compliance Certification, Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) are preferredMinimum Experience10+ years’ experience in a related role, 5+ years in retailSkillsBusiness communication and presentation skillsExcellent project managementProblem-solving abilityAnalytical and decision-making abilities#J-18808-Ljbffr
