OverviewDeputy Head of Primary - January 2026 Start. We are looking to appoint an outstanding Deputy Head of Primary to join the team. The post holder will be responsible for supporting the school’s Vision and Mission as well as all policies, academic standards and pastoral support in the Primary school. The Deputy Head of Primary has overall responsibility for the day-to-day and strategic management of the Primary school, working alongside the Principal and Head of Primary.ResponsibilitiesLead, manage and be responsible for tracking progress, curriculum planning, supporting the Behaviour for Learning, and communicating with parents to promote the realisation of the school’s vision.Help shape and implement the educational strategy for the school.Embrace and encourage the ethos and standards of excellence as defined in the GEMS Core Values.Ensure high academic standards in the Primary school with the aim for all students to be the best they can be, and support UAE National Agenda targets.Formulate the aims and objectives of the school and establish policies for achieving these aims and objectives.Manage staff and resources to achieve school aims and objectives, monitor progress, and oversee budgets as delegated by the Principal.Support the Head of Primary in leading the Primary team, including performance management.Establish and sustain high-quality teaching across subjects, ensure teaching is underpinned by subject expertise, and develop monitoring and evaluation systems to assess standards and drive improvement.Lead on school improvement areas, ensure strategies are effectively monitored, implemented and reviewed, and work with the school community to ensure safeguarding and welfare.Promote a culture of professionalism, high behaviour standards, and positive relationships with staff, students and parents.Qualifications and requirementsA fully certified teacher, holding a B.Ed, PGCE, PGDE or equivalent.Passionate about providing outstanding teaching and learning.Highly experienced in the National Curriculum for England.Proven leadership and communication abilities; effective people development skills.Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a leadership/major role in a similar setting.A minimum IELTS 6 or equivalent may be required.GEMS Education is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all students and staff.
