As part of the CAD Group, the CAD Technician supports multi‑disciplinary engineering teams across maritime, coastal, civil, and structural projects throughout the Middle East. The CAD Technician will produce high‑quality 2D and 3D drawings using AutoCAD and Civil 3D for design, planning, permitting, tendering, and construction documentation. Our ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, technically strong, and able to work both independently and collaboratively within project teams.ResponsibilitiesTransform initial rough designs, sketches, and mark‑ups into complete working drawingsPrepare detailed drawings for maritime and waterfront structures, including cargo terminals, breakwaters, quay walls, revetments, marinas, jetties, bulkheads, and shoreline constructionSupport preparation of tender, IFC, and as‑built drawing packages in accordance with project standardsDevelop CAD drawings for grading, site development, utilities layouts, structural details, dredging layouts, and earthworksCompute excavation and fill volumes for dredging and earthmoving projectsReview drawings to ensure compliance with Moffatt & Nichol CAD standards, client‑specific requirements, and regional authority guidelines (Abu Dhabi/UAE/GCC)Manage file organization including layers, XRefs, sheet sets, and drawing registersSupport designers and senior technicians with multi-disciplinary drawing packagesAssist with 3D visualisations, concept graphics, and model coordination where neededParticipate in internal quality reviews throughout design stagesQualifications5–7 years of professional CAD drafting experience in an engineering consultancy environmentExperience in ports, maritime, coastal, structural, or civil infrastructure design highly preferredRequired SkillsStrong working proficiency in AutoCAD (required) and Civil 3D (required)Additional skills: MicroStation, Revit, ArcGIS, 3ds Max, NavisworksKnowledge of civil site development, structural detailing, engineering principles, and CAD standardsExcellent communication and coordination abilitiesStrong attention to detail with the ability to meet deadlines under pressureProven ability to work in dynamic, multi-project environmentsProficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel preferred)Preferred SkillsAll new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre‑employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800‑171.Pay range and compensation packageSedentary for prolonged period of time, interact with clients, and travel occasionally.Equal Opportunity StatementAs a global business, Moffatt & Nichol relies on diversity of culture and thought to deliver on our goal of Creative People, Practical Solutions® serving our client needs, and ensures nondiscrimination in all activities.
