OverviewDescription Nibras International School is looking for a qualified Art Teacher to join the team in August 2025. All staff are expected to adhere to NIS policies and code of conduct and commit to promoting our vision: a happy community school with amazing learning at its heart where pupils are empowered to make choices, engage in meaningful learning experiences and make exceptional progress.ResponsibilitiesJob Purpose:Set high expectations which inspire, motivate and challenge pupils: establish a safe and stimulating environment for pupils rooted in mutual respect; set goals that stretch and challenge pupils of all backgrounds, abilities and dispositions; demonstrate consistently the positive attitudes, values and behaviour which are expected of pupils.Promote positive progress and outcomes with/for pupils through: accountability of pupils’ attainment, progress and outcomes; awareness of pupils’ capabilities and their prior knowledge and plan teaching to build on these; guidance of pupils to reflect on the progress they have made and their emerging needs; knowledge and understanding of how pupils learn and how this impacts on teaching; encouraging pupils to take a responsible and conscientious attitude to their own work and study.Demonstrate good subject and curriculum knowledge through: sound knowledge of the relevant subject(s) and curriculum areas; foster and maintain pupils’ interest in the subject and address misunderstandings; critical understanding of developments in the subject and curriculum areas and promote the value of scholarship; demonstrate an understanding of and take responsibility for promoting high standards of literacy, articulacy and the correct use of Standard English whatever the teacher’s subject.If teaching early reading, demonstrate a clear understanding of systematic synthetic phonics.If teaching early mathematics, demonstrate a clear understanding of appropriate teaching strategies.Planning and TeachingPlan and teach well-structured lessons: impart knowledge and develop understanding through effective use of lesson time; promote a love of learning and pupils’ intellectual curiosity; set homework when appropriate and plan other out-of-class activities to consolidate and extend knowledge; reflect systematically on the effectiveness of lessons and approaches to teaching; contribute to the design and provision of an engaging curriculum within the relevant subject area(s).Adaptation and InclusionAdapt teaching to respond to the strengths and needs of all pupils through appropriate differentiation; a sound understanding of how factors can inhibit learning and how to overcome them; awareness of physical, social and intellectual development of pupils and how to adapt teaching to support education at different development stages; understanding the needs of all pupils including those with special educational needs, those of high ability, those with English as an additional language, those with disabilities, and how to engage and support them.Assessment and ReportingMake accurate and productive use of assessment: assess relevant subject and curriculum areas including statutory requirements; use formative and summative assessment to secure progress; use data to monitor progress, set targets and plan subsequent lessons; give pupils regular feedback through oral feedback and marking, and encourage responses.Behaviour ManagementManage behaviour effectively to ensure a good and safe learning environment: have clear rules and routines; maintain high expectations of behaviour and use a range of strategies; manage classes to involve and motivate pupils; maintain good relationships and act decisively when necessary.Key AccountabilitiesRepresent areas of knowledge, understanding and skills to students; lead by example with integrity and compassion; engage and motivate students to achieve beyond expectations; use ICT to enhance teaching; plan lessons with consideration of individual learning needs and styles; encourage lifelong learning; maintain professional relationships and contribute to school improvement; plan and deliver a programme of learning opportunities and activities; cooperate with colleagues to uphold fair disciplinary practices; communicate with parents about attainment and progress; maintain confidentiality; model good academic practice; contribute to department discussions and afterschool activities; support school partnerships with the community; undertake other reasonable tasks as required.TeachingPlan and prepare schemes of work and planning documentation; teach effectively with consideration of students’ individual educational needs; set and mark work; promote intellectual, moral, spiritual, cultural, physic
